WEDDINGS
A JOURNALISTIC APPROACH.
I'M HERE TO TELL YOUR STORY, CAPTURE THE MOMENTS & MAKE THE EXPERIENCE MAGICAL WHILST DOING SO.
AN INSIDE LOOK AT
WEDDING DAY
I never really knew what I wanted to add to this page, but after much thought, I realised that a walk through your day is important.
This is where I want to show you how your special day will go, my thoughts & process as well as what I love photographing about certain moments.
This is a good way for you to understand my style and ideas.
DECOR
Usually the first order of business is taking photos of the venue, decor and all setups. This takes pressure off of trying to squeeze it into a different part of the day without loosing photo time
When doing so, I always try to capture EVERY LITTLE thing that has been put out including the view and the venue
Some weddings only setup the reception during the ceremony, I always try take a moment to photograph everything before everyone gets into the venue
A good time for this is usually cocktail hour.
GETTING READY
Some couples opt out of these photos, not realizing that they are a good time to take those moment shots that you will soon forget because the day does really fly by, It's your dad seeing his daughter in her wedding dress and Mom seeing her son all dressed up. Having some drinks with your nearest and dearest friends who you probably won't ever be in the same room with ever again all at once.
Precious moments to me are make-up finishing touches, friends all together having a drink, some fun moments of laughs and joy. Usually we can capture a tear here and there from the parents and maybe even a little flower girl admiring the princess dress. The men are different in every regard here, our approach for them is to set them up in a good lighting spot and let them relax, talk and fool around. Things that men enjoy include a drink or two or sometimes three, a round of footie, a good 'ol cigar and some banter.
Add some fun shots here if you have any ideas I am always up for something unique and always have plenty ideas to suggest.
CEREMONY
There are so many moments at the ceremony to take photos of, but I also do love to take photos of the bride on the way to marry the man of her dreams, why you ask? well generally us ladies have been building up to this day in our heads for a very long time, and the nerves and anxiety and of course excitement all piles up into this one moment. I personally think its a time to remember - it stands out as the last few moments as a MISS
When we get to the ceremony spot, I will usually head straight to capture the grooms face when he first sees his bride! These as we all know are the photos we all want and NEED - however there is so much at a ceremony I try to capture, the surroundings, the guests, close ups of the rings, the little hand hold, the tears of the moms and the grandparents relentlessly trying to get the snap on their old little Samsung
The confetti shot can be challenging but ultimately they end up being your favourite photos because they are the definition of PURE JOY and well, they're usually SO PRETTY. If you are needing ideas on what confetti to get, please shout, I have all the ideas - Ooooh blog post idea!
FAMILY PHOTOS & GROUP SHOTS
Straight after the ceremony, everyone congratulates the bride and groom, which gives us the perfect opportunity to round everyone at the wedding together for a big group shot, if you want that shot. Thereafter generally everyone heads to the cocktail area where they will head up the night with cocktails and some fancy bevvys.
Whilst most of your guests head off to do that, it's a great time to pull the family together before someone gets lost (this happens all the time) - I will ask for a list of the groups for the family photos, but even better yet, have a bridesmaid, co-ordinator or your MC call up the groups, that makes it easy not to forget to take one or leave someone out. This can also be quite a stressful time for the bride and groom, because well, family. It can be hard getting everyone to be present and there for their photos. This is why I recommend keeping these photos down to ten groups, less stressful for you! This is completely up to you!
COCKTAIL HOUR
You probably don't even think about these photos because it's not something many people post about or you don't see it in magazines, but these photos are the fun, people stuffing their mouths, children running free and maybe even some dogs + people getting more bevvys and having a good time. Some weddings that are on a tight schedule, and sometimes I don't have much time to photograph these parts, but if the couple wants to spend more time at their cocktail hour then I will be there too!! In the consultation, it is always a good idea to talk about these things, what you want for your day and how much time you want to spend on different parts of your day are important for me to know to make that happen for you!

RECEPTION
These can be some of my favourite moments of a wedding. I love the moments that unfold and I am there to record these for you to enjoy when you get them! As most of the time we had a little too much to drink, it's fun to see what happened through the eyes of your photographer! ps. when I first started working as a photographer I used to take photos at nightclubs - ew haha but it does prove why I enjoy this part so much! Sometimes you may find me carrying around a bottle of champagne making sure everyone is having a good time (haha) - I love seeing people have a good time! So party, drink it up, get high, get low! I will record them FOR YOU!
